Ixtapan Spa & Golf Resort has 2 Spas within. Our Spa Serene, is value oriented and has been catering to our American clientele for 55 years. The Holistic Spa opened in 2007 and is a unique high end experience. Both are Destination Spas and also Day Spas, sharing gourmet indoor and outdoor dinning, gym, lesson facilities and beauty salon. A La carte treatments are available on each, for participants on other programs or hotel non spa guests.

Holistic Spa Programs apply ancient techniques to improve modern lives. We offer spa and fitness services, which balance mind, body and spirit.  A blend of Oriental and Western treatments creates intensely calming experiences, which last as long as 100 minutes (Balinese clay massage). Specialized massages and facials work magic on guests who luxuriate in the holistic spa center. The Holistic Spa Program is ideal for pre-wedding parties, special occasion guests and sophisticated spa-goers. 

Our Holistic Spa Fitness Programs  were  developed for weight loss and other body sculpting benefits.  The Programs’ fitness classes are energetic and challenging.  Holistic guests receive complimentary pool view room upgrades.

Holistic Spa Programs are 4 and 7 nights and can be extended on a room and board basis. Many guests stay to explore colonial Mexico with hotel-arranged optional sightseeing excursions, or simply to enjoy our gorgeous weather and charm of our local village.

Treatments, Facials & Massages
Description
Abhyanga (50 mins)
Four hand massage inspired in India, where equality is key in Abhyanga. Two operators work in tandem, balancing the energy channels of the entire body, combining shiatsu and ayurvedic techniques.
Oriental Thai Massage (80 mins)
Blending the modalities of the three oriental techniques, balancing the left and right meridians of the body. This treatment combines traditional Thai stretching massage techniques with Hindu lymphatic cleansing and Japanese shiatsu. Natural oils and oriental music aids the release of tension, and creating a deep sense of relaxation. This massage is especially recommended if you feel tired or fatigued, to create a total sense of well-being.
Triple Aromatherapy (80 mins)
Combining the Japanese techniques of shiatsu and Chinese reflexology with deep tissue massage, using the natural essential oils of eucalyptus and lime. Relaxation is enhanced by soft new age music. This treatment can be a significant aid in stress reduction, restoring both mental and physical balance. Massage techniques used frequently encourage the taking of short naps during this treatment.
Mystic Hot Stone Massage (80 mins)
Alternating strokes with hands and smooth, heated river stones, while stimulating the chakras (or energy points in the body) with more hot stones. Enhanced by candle light, mystic tribal music, and the faints scents of incense, this treatment is perfect to enhance spiritual well-being, and a deep sense of inner harmony.
Invigorating Body Treatment (80 mins)
We use the advanced GX-99 vibrator massage on both sides of the body, and follow up with acupressure and a hot towel treatment. After this we apply your choice of a hot reducing gel, or a cold gel for body firming. This is followed by a blanket wrap from the neck down (leaving the arms free if preferred) to activate the purifying properties of the gel, with an acupressure massage for the head and feet, enhancing the circulation. Soft music and the glow of candle light put body and mind in a state of deep relaxation.
Balinese Hot Clay Treatment (100 mins)
Experience the ultimate in this extravagant cleansing session, with two therapists working harmoniously together for the total rejuvenation and detoxification of the body. Starting with a loofah exfoliation treatment to remove impurities from the surface of the skin, the body is then brushed with a special heated fango for deep pore detoxification. Following, a Vichy shower is used to rinse the body, followed by a deep tissue massage for lymphatic cleansing, using rhythmic strokes, shiatsu, acupressure, and reflexology techniques to induce a profound state of inner relaxation. Your session is accompanied by the sounds of ancient spiritual music from the east, while incense and candle light support the blissful journey of body and mind.
Deep Massage (50 mins)
A strong Swedish massage, flowing thru the channels of energy of the entire body. This stimulation releases negative energy and muscle tension, obtaining a true sense of relaxation once the treatment is concluded.
Deep Moisturizing Facial (50 mins)
Intended especially for normal to dry skin, the application of collagen helps the retention of moisture providing an instant glow.
Firming Facial (50 mins)
After a gentle exfoliation, ampules of elastin, a natural protein responsible for skin elasticity, are applied.
Ionizing Facial (50 mins)
With roots in European treatments, the oxygenation treatment helps minimize expression lines.
Aqua Marine Facial (50 mins)
Similar to the Chinese Yin and Yang concepts used in our Mystic Massage, cold smooth river stones are applied to the face, neck and shoulders as part of the facial technique. This treatment helps clean impurities and facilitates relaxation and meditation.

Holistic Lessons
Description
Kundalini yoga Kundalini yoga is a physical, discipline which is combined with a sensitivity for your body and its uses. Kundalini yoga combines poses with awareness. Our instructor will help direct your consciousness to particular organs, via your nervous system. Attention can be on the spine, naval area and on breathing as a way to move energy and pressure throughout your body.
Power Walks
Power walks are preceded, by a brief guided stretch. Our guides will then lead a brisk walk at a pace of a 12-15 minute mile for one hour of aerobic exercise. There are inclines and some rough paths in our mountain terrain.
Spinning
Our indoor cycling program is held in the gym, with modern stationery bikes. Instructors will lead guests through a series of challenges, which fit a wide range of abilities. Most spinning classes will last 50 minutes and might include some stretch and other muscle work. Guests can adjust the routines to their fitness level;all usually experience high calorie burn.
Tai-Chi
Originally a Chinese martial art, Tai-Chi is used in the West as a health and fitness activity. It is balletic, with slow movements, which strengthen muscles while relaxing the mind. There are many styles of Tai-Chi and our classes vary. Classes will emphasize a straight spine, abdominal breathing, core strengthening, joint flexibility. Tai Chi is sometimes held in our gardens.
Tae-Bo
Tae-Bo is an aerobic boxing routine which combines dance and rapid motions of martial arts to increase fitness and cardio-vascular health. Tae Bo tones and defines muscles and can help with balance, flexibility and coordination.
Body Pump
Body Pump is a weight based fitness program, which has taken off as one of the most popular new activities. Classes are performed to music using weights and barbells. The goal of body pump is to work major muscle groups using squats, presses and other exercises, which are focused on specific areas.
